Unique Rectangle (Type 6)
As a variation of Unique Rectangle (UR) Type 4, it also focuses on the two diagonal cells containing extra candidates in the UR. If one of the UR candidates does not exist elsewhere in the two UR rows and two UR columns, it can be removed from the cells with the extra candidates.
Look at the following example.
![]() |
Cells [D2] and [G3] in the potential UR (at [D2], [D3], [G2] and [G3]) are diagonal cells and they both have extra candidates. In Rows D and G, and at the same time in Columns 2 and 3, 5 only appears in the UR cells. Therefore, 5 can be eliminated from [D2] and [G3], which have additional candidates, to avoid the UR being formed. |
One other example here.

Candidate 3 in Rows {A, B} and Columns {6, 8} can only be found in the UR cells, where [A8] and [B6] contain additional candidates. Thus they are the only cells to eliminate candidate 3 to avoid the UR. |
Below are more examples to apply UR Type 6.
